Costa Rica Journey: From the Clouds to the Coast
|
|
Despite its size, Costa Rica is perhaps the most varied and beautiful country in Central America. It is famous for its’ enormous amounts of natural beauty, spectacular arrays of flora and fauna, rainforests, cloud forests, mountains, volcanoes, rivers, lakes and pristine beaches.
World Challenge offers a range of exciting itineraries for short or longer expeditions to Costa Rica, allowing the team to experience an unforgettable trek, a community service and if time allows, some beach time!
There are several amazing treks in Costa Rica to challenge students including the misty Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, the hot springs of La Fortuna, the rainforest terrain of the Osa Penninsula
and the dramatic but little visited volcanic landscape of Rincon de la Vieja, with its bubbling mud pots, waterfalls and hot springs.
Service projects in Costa Rica are tremendously varied and depend on the needs of the local community. Past teams have organized a village clean up with the local school children, collected seeds and planted trees, built vegetable gardens, helped with important turtle conservation activities, renovated schools, taught English, and run a sports day for the local children.
For down time, students can either go white water rafting, zip-lining, or just chill out on the beach to round out their Costa Rican adventure!
