This combination expedition of Costa Rica and Nicaragua allows students to see the best of what Central America has to offer. Teams will get experience rainforests and cloud-forest, volcanoes and peaks, rivers and lakes, both Pacific and Caribbean coasts.

While in Costa Rica, students will be trekking through the beautiful Monteverde Cloud Forest and the dramatic but little visited volcanic landscape of Rincon de la Vieja, with its bubbling mud pots, waterfalls and hot springs. These treks are all in preparation for their main 5 day trek hiking Nicaragua’s Somoto volcanoes.

After their trek, teams will head to one of Nicaragua's most beautiful colonial towns, Granada. From Granada, students can jump on a boat across Lake Nicaragua to explore the mythical island of Ometepe, with its twin volcanic cones and spectacular forests and waterfalls. While there, students will be able to take part in a rewarding service project to further immerse themselves in the local community.

For their down time, students will have the opportunity to experience zip lining in the cloud forest, go white water rafting, and visit the active Arenal volcano. They will also get to relax along the coast for some beach time.
