Iceland: Land of Fire and Ice
|
|
Expeditions to Iceland will leave students in awe of just how rich and varied the natural world can be. The country boasts some of the most dramatic landscapes teams will ever see with active volcanoes, towering glaciers, lava fields, craters, powerful spouting geysers, rising mountains, thundering waterfalls and hot springs (to name just a few!).
This expedition to Iceland will particularly suit those with busy schedules and the determination to embark on a five day challenging trek across one of the most awe inspiring routes in Europe: the Laugavegur Trail. Students will be walking through a volcanic wilderness of lava fields, black sand deserts and hot springs.
If students are studying geography at any level or are just curious as to how the world is formed, they will be amazed by the power of physical forces shaping this unique landscape. This expedition will give teams the rare opportunity to see up close the effects that of fire, ice and tectonic activity have in such a confined area. The expedition is a challenging one but the rewards are many; students will not only get to take in stunning scenery, they’ll also truly get to know their personal strengths and limits.
Naturally we wouldn’t expect students to stretch themselves for the entirety of the expedition, so we’ve built in some relaxation time to help them unwind after the excitement of their trek. During this time teams can spend some time exploring the attractions of Reykjavik, go for a dip in the Blue Lagoon or head out to sea on a trip to watch whales and dolphins in their natural habitats!
Iceland is a truly unique destination, and such expeditions can change your life forever.
