When traveling to Peru, a visit to the ‘Lost City of the Incas’, Machu Picchu, is a must. World Challenge offers a range of exciting itineraries for short or longer expeditions to Peru, allowing the team to experience an unforgettable trek, a community service project and a visit to Machu Picchu!
Peru offers a wide array of amazing trekking opportunities from the deepest canyons to the peaks of the Andes. On the Salkantay trek teams can past glacial lakes and end their hike at the Incan marvel of Machu Picchu, or they can hike along the Colca Canyon, a marvel more than twice as deep as the Grand Canyon where they can spot Andean Condors soaring overhead.
Peruvians are a warm-hearted, welcoming people, and teams are encouraged to learn a little Spanish before the expedition in order to make the most of the cultural exchange. This will really help the team on the community service project, where they will have the chance to interact with the friendly Peruvian locals. Projects include helping villages to construct or renovate community buildings and facilities, painting murals, establishing recycling systems or planting trees.

The team will also have some free time to enjoy sightseeing activities like a trip see the Uros islands on Lake Titicaca, a thrilling white water rafting adventure, or a visit to “The Poor Man’s Galapagos,” the Ballestas Islands.
