Fly into San Jose and head south to the quaint mountain town of Santa Maria de Dota, in the heart of Costa Rica's coffee growing Highlands. Here you will begin the 3 day trek from the highlands down over the Continental divide, through the Zona Santos and down to the Pacific Coast, passing beautiful and friendly rural communities and stunning scenery enroute. On the second day of the trek you will reach the village Tinamu, where you can spend a couple of days engaged in a project.
Service projects can include volunteering at an elementary school or assisting locals with sustainable agriculture - vegetable gardens, reforestation, or even building a greenhouse! After somer rewarding hard work and cultural immersion, continue your trek to the coast for some well deserved rest and relaxation.
Day 1 - Depart US, arrive San Jose
Day 2 - Santa Maria de Dota
Day 3 - Continental divide trek
Day 4 - Continental divide trek, arrive at Tinamu
Day 5 - Service project at Tinamu
Day 6 - Service project at Tinamu
Day 7 - Service project at Tinamu
Day 8 - Continental divide trek, arrive at beach
Day 9 - R&R on the beach, then return to San Jose
Day 10 - Depart San Jose, arrive US
