Acclimatization in Honduras
Lake Yojoa provides a perfect location for teams to get used to the heat and humidity of Honduras. In preparation for the main trek, there will be an opportunity to visit two National Parks where a range of day hikes are available, and teams will have the chance to visit the impressive Pulhapanzak Waterfalls, an ancient Mayan cultural site.

The little visited Cusuco National Park, outside San Pedro Sula, protects the spectacular pine and cloud forest. The one and two day treks offer an opportunity to acclimatize to conditions similar to those on the Celaque main trek.

Main trekking phase
Teams can tackle a challenging five day trek in the Celaque National Park where their journey will lead them to the summit of the highest peak in Honduras; Cerro de las Minas at an impressive 2,849m. Teams will find the cloud forest bursting with wildlife and those with keen eye might be lucky enough to spot quetzal, toucan or even jaguar. Afterwards the natural hot springs of Gracias will be waiting to soothe any aching muscles.

The Lenca region offers some stunning scenery and is a great place for hill walking. Teams will follow trails through intimate Lenca Indian communities where they’ll pass coffee plantations, corn patches and wild, rugged countryside. Along the way teams will discover Mayan roads and bridges, remnants of this fascinating ancient civilization.

Teams will have the privilege to explore the wild and beautiful jungles in the remote area of La Moskitia in eastern Honduras. The land of the Pech and Miskito Indians can be reached by a two day journey involving travel by bus, jeep and dug-out canoe. Teams will complete short day treks before embarking on a challenging four day climb up Pico Dama, a jungle clad peak with fantastic views.

Cultural project in Honduras

The Dive Honduras expedition allows teams to spend time with the indigenous people of Western Honduras. The projects in Lenca and Copan offer rewarding opportunities to get involved in basic construction work within a community or school. Teams will be working alongside local people where they’ll have the chance to share cultures and learn what life is like in Honduras.

Diving in Honduras
The stunning Bay Island has some of the finest dive locations in the world. The miles of unspoilt coral reefs are a haven for colorful sealife. Honduras is a stunning location to qualify as a certified diver and begin your lifelong diving career.

Rest and relaxation
Honduras has an unspoilt tropical coastline. Teams can enjoy the picture perfect Caribbean beaches without having to share them with crowds of tourists. Tela provides some idyllic beaches, great snorkeling and the thriving tropical Punta Sal National Park. The Bay Islands are also another great location for relaxing. For teams seeking more adrenaline fueled fun, white-water rafting is available in Pico Bonito National Park for a more adventurous way to end the expedition.
