14 day trekking and service expedition to Costa Rica |

Flying in to San Jose you'll then be heading off to take part in either a valuable community service project or an exciting conservation project. Service projects are tremendously varied, and past teams have organized a village clean up with the local school children, collected seeds and planted trees, built vegetable gardens, helped with important turtle conservation activities, renovated schools, taught English, and run a sports day for the local children.
After your project you can either visit two areas for shorter treks, or focus on one main trek. Shorter options include the misty Monteverde Cloudforest Reserve and spectacular nearby Arenal Volcano, the dramatic but little visited volcanic landscape of Rincon de la Vieja, with it's bubbling mud pots, waterfalls and hot springs, or a challenging 3 day trek across the Continental Divide from the highlands all the way down to the Pacific Coast. For a longer trek teams can climb Cerro Ena or head to the beautiful rainforest fringed beaches of the Osa Peninsula.
Depending on where your project and trek are there will be a day for some other activities too, both in the middle and at the end of your expedition, whether white water rafting, zip-lining, or just chilling on the beach - the perfect end to your Costa Rican adventure!
Day 1 - Depart US, arrive San Jose
Day 2 - Head to project area
Day 3 - Service project
Day 4 - Service project
Day 5 - Service project
Day 6 - R&R/ rest day - zip-lining, rafting or beach (options depend on acclimatization trekking area)
Day 7 - Head to trekking area. Teams can either choose to combine 2 areas from (1) Monteverde and/or Arenal, (2) Rincon de la Vieja, or (3) Continental Divide, OR will undertake 1 longer trek in (1) the Osa Peninsula or (2) Cerro Ena.
Day 8 - Trekking
Day 9 - Trekking
Day 10 - Trekking
Day 11 - Trekking
Day 12 - Finish trek, head to R&R location
Day 13 - R&R, then return to San Jose
Day 14 - Depart San Jose, arrive US
