Acclimatization in Ecuador
Teams will need to prepare for their main challenge by taking some day hikes from the starting point of the main trek.

As teams gain experience, there are a number of three to seven day treks which will be good preparation for ascending the higher volcanoes. Treks in northern Ecuador could include walking in the cloud forests, in the Andean Sierra around Latacunga, or in the beautiful Piñan Lakes area. Further south, treks could take in the Southern Highlands.

Main trekking phase
Challenging trekking phase: high altitude trekking
Once acclimatized, teams can undertake a challenging trek lasting one to four days. Many teams choose to tackle one of Ecuador’s volcanoes. Volcán Ruminahui (4,712m), El Corazon (4,788m) and Imbabura (4,580m) are all peaks that provide a challenge suitable for the whole team.

Jungle phase: rainforest exploration
For an exicing wildlife adventure, teams can undertake jungle exploration in the Oriente region of the Amazon rainforest, starting from Tena or Macas. Exploring on foot and sometimes by motorized canoe, teams will go on day treks and then return to spend their nights in bamboo stilted huts called Cabanas. The local guides will share their incredible knowledge of the rainforest eco-system and there will be lots of wildlife spotting opportunities.

Ecuador and Galápagos expedition project work
There are many projects based within communities and schools. Work could involve helping to paint buildings and carry out basic construction tasks. There are lots of conservation projects to get involved with that include cloud forest preservation and promoting sustainable agriculture. It may be possible for teams to work with the children of the Galápagos Islands to raise awareness about the environment, and there may be an opportunity to complete conservation work within the Galápagos National Park.

Rest and relaxation
The rest and relaxation phase will be spent in the stunning Galápagos Islands where a four day tour will take in some of the amazing wildlife sights and the rugged volcanic landscape. Teams can also visit some of Ecuador’s famous colorful markets on the mainland, and rafting is also a possibility.
